Sebastian Alabaster Studio

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Sebastian Alabaster is a London-based painter whose large-scale monochrome acrylic works unfold across marouflage cotton duck canvases. His practice centres on processes of accumulation and interruption, where collaged canvas sections fracture continuity, producing a tension between visual cohesion and collapse. Favouring cool, aqueous tonalities, the works resist fixed resolution, instead articulating fleeting states of calm and instability as experiential fields of colour.

His works have been exhibited in the Royal Academy, and his art has been featured in media publications including the Courtauldian, the Art Thread, and Clast Magazine. Currently studying at Camberwell College of Arts, he is the recipient of the Ethereal Maison Residency for the Venice Biennale. He is co-founder and co-curator of Morisot, a boutique London-based theory-driven curatorial agency. His last exhibition, ‘Imaginary Possession’, exhibited both Gabriel Campbell's and Sebastian Alabaster's work at Greatorex, an artist-led project space. The artist has a forthcoming talks program with both the Courtauld and the Warburg whilst he is currently preparing for further exhibitions in London.
